Yeah, so, remember that meeting I wanted to set up with my bosses to figure out our next steps?
We completely revamped our concept of what the final product of my fellowship will look like.
Technically speaking, it creates more work for me (both a good and a bad thing), but that’s okay. It wraps everything we’ve been trying to do with the virtual tour into one neat little package, and it’s fantastic, and I can’t believe we didn’t think of it sooner (credit to Tech Bar Ben for talking some sense into all of us).
We’ve decided that instead of trying to cram a whole lot of information onto a tiny virtual tour platform, we’ll create a home web page that exhibits the main storyline of Dietrich Bonhoeffer’s life and work. That web page will contain links to further information, much of which we’ll present in the form of niche mini-tours. Viewers will be able to follow one main chronology of Bonhoeffer, and if along the way they become curious about a particular aspect of his work, we will have provided a link to a tour with information specific to that topic or perspective.
My job is this: I have to create a structure for the main web page, create several tours of specific topics, and then link those tours out of the main web page. Sounds simple, but it’s going to take some time.
At least it guarantees me a paycheck for a while longer.
